Frequently Asked Questions

What is the FrontDeskOS MCP Server?
The FrontDeskOS MCP Server is a Model Context Protocol server that exposes 50+ tools for managing front desk operations. It allows AI assistants like Claude to directly manage calls, scheduling, leads, analytics, and more through a standardized interface.
How do I get an API key?
Sign up for a free account on the FrontDeskOS Developer Portal, then navigate to your Dashboard > API Keys section. You can generate both test and production keys from there.
Which MCP clients are supported?
The FrontDeskOS MCP Server works with any MCP-compatible client, including Claude Desktop, Continue, and other tools that implement the Model Context Protocol specification.
Is there a rate limit?
Free plans are limited to 1,000 API calls per month. Pro plans allow up to 50,000 calls per month. Enterprise plans have custom limits. Rate limit headers are included in every response.
How do webhooks work?
You can configure webhook endpoints in your dashboard to receive real-time notifications for events like new calls, appointment bookings, and lead captures. Webhooks are sent as POST requests with JSON payloads and include signature verification.
Can I use the MCP Server with multiple locations?
Yes. Pro plans support up to 5 locations, and Enterprise plans support unlimited locations. Each API call can specify a location context, and you can configure location-specific settings and routing rules.
